Latest website: Atlanta, Georgia

I finished this one last year. It was a great opportunity to create a new template that allows a background image in the footer, as well as animations. Thus, the “Fairy wren” template was born.

The members wanted their new website to express activity and love, and to echo their progressive, vibrant city. Animations, slideshows, fonts and colour were used to bring movement and make the site engaging. Background images of their beautiful city give a sense of place.

Here is what they had to say:

“You might think that going all the way to Australia for a website designer is a bit odd but once we saw examples of her previous work, we knew RedJanet was the right choice for our church. Leah’s thoughtful and insightful ideas helped transform our basic ideas into a wonderful website that is informative and engaging. It covers all the aspects of our church, from our services to Sunday school, to our lecturers, to links to articles, etc. Our members have given it glowing reviews as well. It encompasses our community outreach ideas too. Leah was super patient with our many questions and several edits and was always willing to change it to our satisfaction. She is extremely knowledgeable about the different servers on the internet and how compatible our site was with them and was very helpful. Her knowledge prevented making a software error that would have affected our email system.

“We can’t say enough about her talent and professional attitude. It was a wonderful experience working with her and the results are spectacular!

“Many thanks, Leah.”

New websites for Chatswood and Adelaide

Earlier this year I completed these 2 projects for the churches in Chatswood (Sydney) and Adelaide. It was a pleasure to build these 2 websites!

I’ll be updating them on behalf of the churches including adding upcoming lecture details, so that they can be found as “events” on Google.

Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Sydney (Chatswood)

The members wanted activity and colour to reflect their active local community. We went with the “Rainbow Lorikeet” template, which allows for colourful elements that animate as you hover over them. I also used animations when building the pages to create interest and movement.

The church is a beautiful, modern building, and I tried to incorporate a clean look with some curved lines, taking inspiration from the curved wall at the front of the church.

Inspiration for this design was taken largely from the beautiful, modern Reading Room fitout in downtown Adelaide. The church members wanted a classic look, and the black-on-white contrasts beautifully with the bright orange mimicking their Reading Room. The text used throughout was thoughtfully written by members, making this website very unique.

Latest website: Newcastle church

Towards the end of 2022 I completed the website for First Church of Christ, Scientist, Newcastle, Australia. The church wanted their website to convey the sense that Christian Science is accessible to everyone, and to show their member’s love for their community.

This was a fun undertaking, with lots of beautiful images of this picturesque coastal city available. I always love going through the images of an area – they really give me a sense of place. And Newcastle is such a beautiful city with the beach in walking distance of the town. The header has 12 images that display randomly and really give a feel for the beauty of the area.

Here is what they had to say:

“It gives me great joy to recommend Leah’s work in website design. Leah has developed a comprehensive process that supports a client all along the way. She patiently answered questions and always made changes to the text and graphics promptly and willingly. She found stunning photos of our local area to compliment the ones we contributed and we are very pleased with the final result. All aspects of the website development went very smoothly.

She designed a successful email campaign for our upcoming lecture using MailerLite. She also liaised with overseas technicians and graphic designers who provided copy for the lecture page and we were very pleased with the final results.”

Thank you, Leah

New website: Corona del Mar!

It was a joy to work on this website and their beautiful imagery – my favourite so far!

Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Newport Beach, California (Corona del Mar) wanted a website with a bright, lively, beachy feel, that welcomed visitors with joy and non-judgement.

The colour scheme, images, and text were chosen to reach out and bring a sense of inclusivity to the website visitor, no matter who they are. Members provided many beautiful images of Corona del Mar.

Built using the “Cherry Blossom” template.

Here’s what Heidi and Dana had to say:

“Leah is a pleasure to work with, very professional, and receptive to our ideas. She did a beautiful job designing and customizing our website making it inviting, soothing & inspirational. Leah has made navigating the website clear and easy with a number of different links designed for the newcomer looking for answers, as well as long time students of Christian Science. She is also very quick to respond to any changes or additions in updating our website.”
